  • Always ask before dancing! A simple “Would you like to dance?” is perfect.
  • Respect a ”no” everyone has the right to decline a dance invitation any time for any reason.

  • Control your movements to avoid collisions and injury
  • Protect your partner on the dance floor, especially during spins and dips
  • Avoid unnecessary flashy moves e.g. lifts, tricks, dips, on a crowded dance floor

  • Fresh breath, clean clothes, and deodorant go a long way
  • Bring spare shirts or a towel if you sweat a lot
  • Respect personal space and avoid wearing heavy fragrances

  • Read the room. Identify your partner’s dance level and comfort level
  • Leads: Don’t force advanced partnerwork combinations onto beginners. Instead, guide your follows through combinations that they can follow comfortably

  • Conversely, don’t ask to be taught while social dancing. That’s what the workshops are for!
  • Offer encouragement instead of corrections
  • Celebrate each others efforts and enjoy your dance!
